Cornerstone Academy is built and classes are in session. The school serves children in Pre-Kindergarten to 5th grade, giving hope through education by God’s love. The teachers at Cornerstone empower students God-designed potential by teaching groups and individuals in loving, creative and interactive ways.

Finished project: office block

sustainability at Siamaluba farm

Funded through Lulangilo, Children’s Nest e-v Germany and with a donation of land from a local Chief the farm helps generate food and income for Children’s Nest and will serve as a training center for agriculture, both for children and the community. Children’s Nest will grow different crops throughout the year, including cabbage, corn, tomato, eggplant and bananas.

Children’s Nest staff members reside at the farm to take care of the crops.


 

Finished: The Office Block is complete and being used daily by staff and the Education Department.

2007

Children's Nest Established

Children's Nest is a non-governmental home for orphaned and vulnerable children in Choma, Zambia.

2013

Lulangilo Established

Lulangilo (meaning "Hope" in Tonga) is a non-profit based in the United States to provide financial, relational, and spiritual support for Children's Nest. In 2013 it was established under the umbrella of Crosswinds Church. In 2017 Lulangilo Inc. officially became its own 501(c)(3).

2018

Siamaluba Farm Began

Siamaluba Farm is used by Children's Nest to generate food, income, and provide agricultural learning opportunities for the children and community. The property was secured in 2018 and development began in 2019.

2020

Office Block Building Completed

The Office Block is a space for Children's Nest staff and Cornerstone Academy to use for daily administrative needs.

2022

Cornerstone Academy Opened

Cornerstone Academy is a Pre-K to 5th grade school providing education and hope through God's love.

2026

Fundraising and Planning Begins for Land Development Project

2026 will start the process of eventually building family-style housing and expanding the Cornerstone Academy on Children's Nest's land.

2028

Midpoint of Land Development Project

By 2028 Children's Nest will have completed construction of 10 homes and have expanded the Cornerstone Academy to Pre-K through 6th grade.

2030

Completion and Full Occupancy of 10 Homes

By 2030 family-style housing will host between 70-90 children staffed by trained caregivers and/or house parents.

2030

Expansion of Academy to Pre-K through 12th Grade

By 2030 Cornerstone Academy will be expanded to provide comprehensive precollegiate education and include integration programs in the local community.
